Description
Keratolytic ointment containing 20% salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is a fat-soluble substance that mixes with the lipids of the stratum corneum and the sebaceous glands of hair follicles and can remove them. Salicylic acid can also alter desmosomes (intercellular junctions of corneocytes), reducing cell cohesion and causing an exfoliating effect. It therefore has keratolytic and comedolytic properties. Furthermore, thanks to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis, it possesses anti-inflammatory properties.
