DISINFARM 0.1% cutaneous solution
Benzalkonium chloride
What it is and what it is used for
DISINFARM contains the active ingredient benzalkonium chloride, which belongs to a group of medicines called antiseptics and disinfectants that reduce or block bacterial growth.
DISINFARM is indicated for cleaning and disinfecting the skin in cases of small superficial lesions (wounds, abrasions, burns [first-degree burns]).
Consult your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after a few days of treatment.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use DISINFARM
- if you are allergic to benzalkonium chloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using DISINFARM.
This medicine should only be applied to the skin (external use).
Do not apply DISINFARM to the eyes or the inside of the ear (middle ear).
Do not swallow or inhale DISINFARM as serious, even fatal, consequences can occur.
After applying this medicine to the skin, avoid exposure to the sun or sunlamps (artificial sources of ultraviolet rays).
The product is flammable: do not expose the container to heat sources and do not spray it on flames or incandescent objects.
Do not use this medicine for prolonged treatments. After a short period of treatment, if you do not notice results, consult your doctor. If you use DISINFARM, especially for long periods of time, allergic reactions (sensitisation phenomena) may occur. In such cases, discontinue treatment and inform your doctor, who will establish an appropriate therapy.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them.
Cases of intolerance with symptoms such as burning or skin irritation may occur. These symptoms usually do not require changes to the treatment.
These side effects are generally temporary. However, if they occur, it is advisable to consult your doctor or pharmacist.
