Eurax 10% cream
Crotamiton

What it is and what it is used for
Eurax contains the active ingredient crotamiton, a substance that belongs to the class of drugs known as antipruritics and acaricides (action against mites). Crotamiton, when applied to the skin, acts against itching. It also kills the parasite responsible for a skin infection called scabies.

Eurax is indicated for the treatment of itching when it is not associated with evident skin alterations:
• anal itching
• vulvar itching (external part of the vagina)
• itching caused by allergies
• insect bites
• urticaria

Eurax is also used in skin infestations due to the scabies mite.

Consult your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 5 days.

What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use Eurax
• if you are allergic to crotamiton or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
• if you have recently suffered from skin diseases accompanied by irritation and liquid discharge and generally in cases requiring treatment with compresses.

Warnings and precautions
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using Eurax.

Do not use/apply Eurax:
• inside the mouth (mucosa) and avoid contact with the eyes. If this occurs, wash thoroughly with water;
• if you have wounds that are discharging fluid;
• if you have a severe form of eczema, a skin inflammation associated with, for example, redness and itching;
• if you have broken or very inflamed skin.

Pay particular attention with Eurax:
• if you have eczematous scabies, because you must first treat the eczema and only then the scabies;
• because the use, particularly if prolonged over time, of products to be applied to the skin can cause irritation and allergic reactions. If this occurs, stop the treatment and contact your doctor, who will prescribe appropriate therapy.

Children
Eurax should be used with caution and under strict medical supervision when used for the treatment of scabies in children under 3 years of age.
