FENAZIL 2% cream
Promethazine hydrochloride
What it is and what it is used for
FENAZIL 2% cream is a topical antihistamine.
It is used as an anti-allergic to relieve localized burning and itching.
FENAZIL 2% cream is used for insect bites and other localized skin irritations such as redness, burning, and itching.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. In case of eczema or weeping lesions. It is advisable to consult your doctor even if these disorders have occurred in the past. Contraindicated in children under 2 years of age.
Warnings and precautions
The product is for external use only. Use only on intact skin.
Prolonged and inappropriate use of the product can lead to allergic sensitization phenomena, with a consequent worsening of symptoms. If this occurs, treatment should be discontinued and a doctor consulted to establish appropriate therapy.
Since the application of FENAZIL 2% cream can delay healing processes, it should not be used for more than 3-4 consecutive days on lesions where this phenomenon is occurring. Apply the cream with caution and in a thin layer when the skin has very extensive abrasions, to avoid systemic absorption of the product.
In the case of sunburn, do not expose the affected area to the sun after application.
If skin rashes, irritation, and burning sensations occur, treatment should be discontinued.
Do not use for prolonged treatments. After a short period of treatment without appreciable results, consult your doctor.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, Fenazil 2% cream can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Topical application of Promethazine can, in some cases, induce skin sensitization, even leading to photosensitization.
Excessive application of cream on very large areas of the skin can lead to drug absorption and cause drowsiness in particularly sensitive patients.
In some cases, local intolerance (burning or irritation) may occur, which is, however, without consequences. In this case, wash the affected area thoroughly with water and discontinue treatment.
Following the instructions in the package leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.
If any of the side effects get worse, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, tell your doctor or pharmacist.
