HIRUDOID 40,000 I.U. Gel
Glycosaminoglycan Polysulfate
What it is and what it is used for
HIRUDOID contains the active ingredient glycosaminoglycan polysulfate, which has anti-inflammatory and antithrombotic activity, meaning it prevents the formation of blood clots (thrombi).
HIRUDOID is used to treat:
- inflammation of a vein under the skin (superficial phlebitis) or a blood clot causing vein inflammation (thrombophlebitis);
- swelling caused by slowed blood circulation in the veins (edema from venous stasis);
- pain, inflammation, swelling, and trophic disorders in post-phlebitic and varicose conditions;
- hematomas.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use HIRUDOID
- if you are allergic to the active ingredient, to a heparinoid (a medicine with anticoagulant action similar to heparin), or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and precautions
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using HIRUDOID.
Stop treatment and contact your doctor immediately if allergic reactions occur after applying the gel.
