HYLO GEL
Lubricating eye drops
Description
Sterile preservative-free solution for ophthalmic use.
It is an eye drop indicated for the therapeutic lubrication of the ocular surface in the presence of an intense and persistent sensation of dry eye, also in pre- and post-operative treatment.
HYLO GEL contains the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance present in many organs of the human body, including the eye. Its peculiarity is the formation of a homogeneous, stable and long-lasting lubricating and wetting film on the ocular surface, difficult to remove. Thanks to this so-called bioadhesive property, HYLO GEL protects the cornea and conjunctiva and, together with natural tears, allows the eyelid to slide over the ocular surface. HYLO GEL contains a high quantity of sodium hyaluronate which increases its viscosity, thus offering the eye a wetting and soothing film with an intensive and long-lasting effect.
HYLO GEL relieves persistent or particularly intense symptoms and protects the eye from further irritation.
Physiological tear secretion can be reduced due to surgical interventions, eye injuries, medication intake, etc. For the regeneration of eye tissues, it is necessary that the ocular surface is continuously moistened. The application of HYLO GEL further moistens and lubricates the cornea and conjunctiva, optimizing the wound healing process.
Thanks to the absence of preservatives, HYLO GEL is generally very well tolerated. Furthermore, HYLO GEL is phosphate-free: this avoids possible complications due to the formation of insoluble deposits in the cornea.
Instructions for use
Remove the cap before use. To remove the cap, hold it firmly with one hand and, with the other, rotate the bottle downwards.
Before the first application, turn the bottle upside down with the dropper pointing downwards and press the bottom of the bottle to release the first drop from the dropper. The bottle is now ready for subsequent applications.
Keep the bottle upside down, placing your thumb on the top of the bottle and your other fingers on the bottom. Support the hand holding the bottle with your free hand. Tilt your head slightly backward, quickly and firmly press the bottom of the bottle. This activates the mechanism for releasing a drop. Thanks to the special valve mechanism of the COMOD System, the size and speed of release of a drop are always the same, regardless of the pressure applied.
Slowly close your eyes to allow the fluid to spread over the surface of the eye.
Close the bottle with the cap immediately after use.
Make sure the dropper tip is dry.
During the application of the liquid, avoid any contact between the tip of the bottle and the eye or skin.
The COMOD system dispenses 10 ml of solution, equivalent to approximately 300 drops. For technical reasons, a small amount of solution always remains in the bottle at the end of use.
HYLO GEL is indicated for long-term treatment.
The HYLO GEL bottle must always be used by the same person.
Use HYLO GEL at your discretion and/or according to your ophthalmologist's instructions. Generally, one drop of HYLO GEL is instilled into each eye three times a day. If necessary, more frequent use is also allowed. In this case (e.g., more than 10 times a day), consult your ophthalmologist.
HYLO GEL is indicated for long-term treatment. As with all disorders, however, it is advisable to consult your ophthalmologist if symptoms persist.
Components
1 ml HYLO GEL contains 2 mg of sodium hyaluronate, anhydrous citric acid, sodium citrate, sorbitol and water for injections.
Warnings
If using any other eye drops, wait at least 30 minutes before applying HYLO GEL, which should always be used last. Ophthalmic ointments, on the other hand, should always be applied after instilling HYLO GEL.
Being preservative-free, HYLO GEL is well tolerated even with prolonged use. In very rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions, such as burning or excessive tearing, have been reported, which resolve immediately after discontinuing the use of HYLO GEL.
HYLO GEL relieves symptoms in the presence of a particularly intense and persistent sensation of dry eye. If the ophthalmologist has no objections regarding the use of contact lenses despite the presence of this disorder, HYLO GEL can be used while wearing contact lenses. In this case, however, some smudging may appear on the contact lenses, which disappears after blinking a couple of times.
Due to the viscosity of the preparation, a transient blurring of vision may follow the application of HYLO GEL.
To avoid any incompatibility reactions due to possible interactions between contact lens care products and HYLO GEL, it is advisable to wait approximately 30 minutes after inserting contact lenses before instilling the eye drops.
HYLO GEL can be used in pediatric age, during pregnancy and during breastfeeding.
Do not use HYLO GEL in case of hypersensitivity to any of the components.
Keep out of reach of children.
Use HYLO Gel only if the outer packaging is sealed and intact before first use.
Storage
Do not store above 25°C.
Do not use after the expiration date.
Shelf life after opening: 6 months.
Format
10 ml bottle.
