What it is and what it is used for
Lomexin contains the active ingredient fenticonazole nitrate.
It belongs to a group of medicines called "antifungals" for dermatological use and acts against infections caused by fungi.

Lomexin is used topically for the treatment of the following conditions:
• skin infections caused by fungi called dermatophytes (dermatomycosis by Trichophyton, Microsporum, Epidermophyton) located in different parts of the body: tinea capitis, tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea pedis (also called athlete's foot), tinea manuum, tinea faciei, tinea affecting hair follicles (tinea barbae), tinea unguium
• skin infections caused by Candida fungi (candidiasis such as intertrigo, perleche, facial candidiasis, "diaper" candidiasis, perineal and scrotal candidiasis)
• infections localized in some parts of the male genitals (balanitis, balanoposthitis)
• nail infections (onychomycosis and paronychia)
• fungal infection called "pityriasis versicolor" (due to Pityrosporum orbiculare and P. ovale)
• ear infections caused by fungi (otomycosis from Candida or molds), only if there are no lesions of a part of the ear called the eardrum
• skin infection called "erythrasma"
• fungal infections (mycoses) that also present bacterial superinfections (by Gram-positive bacteria).

Consult your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after a short period of treatment.

What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use Lomexin
- if you are allergic to the active ingredient or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6)
- if you are pregnant (see section "Pregnancy and breastfeeding").

Warnings and precautions
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using Lomexin.
The use, especially prolonged use, of medicines for local use (topical use) can cause allergic reactions (sensitization phenomena).
In this case, stop the treatment and consult your doctor who will advise you on appropriate therapy.

After applying Lomexin to the lesion, you may experience a slight burning sensation that quickly disappears.

Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

When used as recommended, Lomexin is only poorly absorbed and no side effects affecting the entire body (systemic effects) are expected. Prolonged use of medicines for local use (topical use) can cause sensitization phenomena (see section "Warnings and precautions").

The following side effects have been observed with Lomexin:

Very rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people)
• skin redness (erythema)
• itching
• skin rash
• skin rash and redness (erythematous rash)
• skin irritation
• burning sensation of the skin.
