Primary antimicrobial dressing for use in infected wounds or wounds at risk of infection.
It is designed to manage the 3 main local barriers to healing: exudate, infection, and biofilm.
AQUACEL Ag+ EXTRA incorporates two powerful technologies that work synergistically to manage the fundamental barriers to wound healing.
Ag+ Technology is a unique formulation containing silver ions, a biofilm-fighting formulation that:
- destroys biofilm and the bacteria contained within it
- kills a broad spectrum of bacteria, including antibiotic-resistant ones, thanks to its silver reservoir
- prevents biofilm reformation.
Hydrofiber technology helps create an ideal wound healing environment, ensuring that Ag+ Technology works at its best:
- locks in excess exudate, bacteria and biofilm to minimize cross-infection and prevent maceration of periwound skin
- micro-conforms to the wound bed, maintaining the right moisture level and eliminating empty spaces where bacteria could proliferate
- interacts with the wound bed, forming a cohesive gel, minimizing pain during dressing changes.
