Description
Absorbent polyurethane foam dressing with border for the sacral area. Mepilex Border Sacrum can help prevent pressure injuries in the sacral region when used in addition to standard prevention protocols. It is suitable for the management of a wide range of wounds from low to very exuding, such as:
-pressure ulcers;
-traumatic wounds (e.g., skin tears and wounds healing by secondary intention).
Mepilex Border Sacrum's unique 5-layer structure helps redistribute and dissipate the forces responsible for pressure injury formation, namely friction, shear, and pressure, thanks to the ability of the various layers to slide over each other and deform.
Mepilex Border Sacrum's action controls exudates and maintains the ideal moist environment for wound healing:
-absorbs exudates vertically.
-thanks to the Safetac technology contact layer, it minimizes removal trauma, protects the periwound skin, thus preventing maceration.
-can also be used in combination with gels.
-can remain in situ during hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Composition
1)Outer polyurethane film permeable to water vapor and impermeable to liquids and bacteria.
2)Absorbent pad made of open-cell polyurethane foam with vertical absorption.
3)Non-woven fabric layer.
4)Superabsorbent polyacrylate fibers.
5)Wound contact layer made of soft silicone (Safetac Technology).

Directions for use
Clean the area to be protected or the wound depending on its use for prevention or treatment. Allow the skin to dry. Open the package and remove the protective paper. Correct film removal ensures sterile application. Apply the Safetac side of the dressing to the wound. Do not stretch the dressing. In treatment: for best results, the absorbent pad of Mepilex Border Sacrum should cover the wound and have a margin of approximately 2 cm beyond the wound. If further securing the dressing is necessary, only secure the edges of the product. During removal, gently lift one side and slowly remove the dressing.

Warnings
For external use.
In case of infected wounds, use under medical supervision is recommended.
In case of sensitization of the treated area or clinical signs of infection, consult healthcare personnel.
Do not use Mepilex Border Sacrum together with oxidizing agents such as hypochlorite solutions or hydrogen peroxide (oxygenated water).
Do not use in patients sensitive to the components. The product is generally well tolerated. No interactions detected with other substances.

Storage
Store at room temperature away from extreme conditions of humidity, dust, pollutants, etc.
Shelf life in intact packaging: 3 years.
