MICOTEF 2% cutaneous cream

What it is and what it is used for
MICOTEF cutaneous cream is an antifungal for dermatological use. It is used to treat skin and nail infections caused by dermatophytes and Candida. Due to its antibacterial activity against gram-positive bacteria, MICOTEF cutaneous cream can be used to treat mycoses with superinfections caused by these microorganisms.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use MICOTEF cutaneous cream:
If you are allergic to the active substance or other similar antifungal medicines, or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and precautions
Topical preparations, especially if used for prolonged periods, may lead to sensitization. If this occurs, treatment must be discontinued and appropriate therapy instituted.
Avoid contact with eyes. Wash hands thoroughly after each application, unless the treatment involves the hands themselves. It is advisable to apply the following hygienic measures to avoid sources of infection or reinfection:
• keep towels and underwear for personal use to prevent infection of other people;
• regularly change clothes that come into contact with the infected area to avoid reinfection;
• disinfect socks and shoes. MICOTEF cutaneous cream does not stain skin or clothes.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, MICOTEF cutaneous cream can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The use, especially prolonged use, of the product can give rise to sensitization phenomena. In this case, it is necessary to interrupt the treatment and establish an appropriate therapy. Adhering to the instructions contained in the package leaflet reduces the risk of side effects. This medicine contains methyl p-hydroxybenzoate, propyl p-hydroxybenzoate as excipients, therefore it may cause allergic reactions (even delayed ones).
