Ciclopirox olamine
What it is and what it is used for
MICOXOLAMINA contains the active ingredient ciclopirox olamine, which belongs to a group of medicines called antifungals, active against fungal growth.
MICOXOLAMINA is indicated for infections caused by sensitive fungi.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use MICOXOLAMINA:
If you are allergic to ciclopirox olamine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using MICOXOLAMINA.
Avoid contact of the product with eyes.
You should use MICOXOLAMINA with caution and under medical supervision:
• if you are simultaneously being treated with a systemic antifungal (medicines used against fungal growth);
• if you have a history of reduced immune defenses (immunocompromised);
• if you have a compromised immune system, such as transplant recipients and those with HIV infection;
• if you suffer from diabetes.
Prolonged use of MICOXOLAMINA may cause allergies. In this case, treatment should be discontinued and you should contact your doctor.
During the period of MICOXOLAMINA use, strictly follow the hygiene rules recommended by your doctor.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The following side effects may occur:
Occasionally, itching and burning or irritation of the skin may occur, generally temporary.
