What it is and what it is used for
Neo Borocillina lozenges with vitamin C sugar-free contain the active ingredients 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol and ascorbic acid and belong to a category of medicines called oropharyngeal (mouth and throat) antiseptics (antibacterials), used for the treatment of symptoms of inflammatory diseases of the mouth and throat.
2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol has a local antiseptic (antibacterial) action in the oral cavity. In addition, vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a useful aid in the treatment of common cold diseases.
Neo Borocillina lozenges with vitamin C sugar-free, with a pleasant taste, are indicated as a disinfectant for the oropharyngeal cavity (mouth and throat) and give a pleasant fresh sensation.
Neo Borocillina lozenges with vitamin C sugar-free:
• has a disinfectant and antibacterial action against numerous germs that can cause oral cavity diseases;
• has a rapid bactericidal action (eliminates bacteria) and has a prolonged effect.
Neo Borocillina lozenges with vitamin C sugar-free can be used by those who need to avoid taking sucrose (sugar) and is therefore particularly indicated for patients who need to control their sugar and calorie intake throughout the day.
Furthermore, as it does not contain sugar, Neo Borocillina lozenges with vitamin C sugar-free do not cause dental caries.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
DO NOT use Neo Borocillina lozenges with vitamin C sugar-free
• if you are allergic to 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol, vitamin C or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6)
Warnings and precautions
The use, especially if prolonged, of products for local use can give rise to allergic phenomena. In this case, stop the treatment and consult your doctor.
Neo Borocillina lozenges with vitamin C sugar-free should be used with caution in patients:
• who suffer, or have suffered in the past, from kidney stones (nephrolithiasis);
• affected by a deficiency of the enzyme G6PD (glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase);
• affected by diseases affecting the red blood cells (hemochromatosis, thalassemia or sideroblastic anemia).
Children
In children, the product should be used only if strictly necessary and under the direct supervision of a doctor.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Very rare side effects:
• allergic reactions (hypersensitivity);
• sensation of dizziness;
• difficulty breathing (respiratory failure);
• swelling of the throat (glottal edema);
• vomiting;
• malaise;
• sweating;
• swelling (edema) of the arms;
• swelling of the mouth, eyelids, face;
• hives;
• damage to red blood cells and consequent anemia (hemolytic anemia);
• yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice).
