NEO-EMOCICATROL 1 mg/g + 20 mg/g nasal ointment
Benzalkonium chloride; Tannic acid
What it is and what it is used for
NEO-EMOCICATROL is an ointment containing two active ingredients, benzalkonium chloride and tannic acid, which is used to disinfect nasal mucous membranes.
Consult your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after a short period of treatment.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use NEO-EMOCICATROL
if you are allergic:
- to the active ingredients or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
- to other antiseptics such as: benzethonium chloride, cetyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride, cetylpyridinium chloride, methylbenzethonium chloride.
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using NEO-EMOCICATROL.
Avoid the concomitant use of other antiseptics and (nasal) detergents.
Drug incompatible with soaps, citrates, iodides, nitrates, permanganates, tartrates, salicylates, salts of silver, iron, lead, antimony, gums.
Accidental ingestion or inhalation of some disinfectants such as NEO-EMOCICATROL can have serious, sometimes fatal, consequences. The first symptoms are nausea and vomiting. In case of poisoning you may notice: breathing difficulties (dyspnea), bluish skin discoloration (cyanosis), shortness of breath (asphyxia), low blood pressure (hypotension), slow or absent response to environmental stimuli, such as light, noise up to coma (CNS depression).
Do not take medicines that stimulate vomiting (emetics) and do not perform gastric lavage. Consult your doctor or the nearest hospital immediately.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Contact your doctor if you notice burning or redness (signs of hypersensitivity, which may occur especially with prolonged use). These effects are usually transient.
