NEOMERCUROCROMOBIANCO 5 mg/g cutaneous powder
Chlorhexidine gluconate

What it is and what it is used for
Do not use NEOMERCUROCROMOBIANCO
- if you are allergic to chlorhexidine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).

What you need to know before taking the medicine
• Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using NEOMERCUROCROMOBIANCO.
• Do not use for prolonged treatments; after a short period of treatment without appreciable results, consult your doctor. The use, especially if prolonged, of products for cutaneous (local) use can give rise to sensitisation phenomena (excessive reaction of the body to foreign substances with which it has come into contact). In this case, stop the treatment and consult your doctor to start an appropriate therapy.
• The product is for external use only.
• Accidental ingestion or inhalation of some disinfectants can have serious, sometimes fatal, consequences. In case of accidental ingestion, consult a doctor immediately.
• Avoid contact with the brain, meninges (the membranes covering the brain and spinal cord) and the middle ear. NEOMERCUROCROMOBIANCO must not come into contact with the eyes due to the risk of vision damage. If it comes into contact with the eyes, wash immediately and thoroughly with water. In case of irritation, redness or pain in the eye or visual disturbance, consult your doctor immediately.
Following accidental contact of similar products with the eye during surgical procedures on patients under general anaesthesia (induced deep sleep), severe cases of permanent corneal trauma (damage to the surface of the eye) have been reported. Such lesions may necessitate corneal transplantation.

Warnings and precautions
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
Avoid the simultaneous use of other disinfectants and detergents.

Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Burning or irritation (intolerance) may occur, which does not require a change in treatment.
Other possible side effects are (frequency not known):
- allergic skin disorders, including dermatitis (inflammation of the skin), itching, erythema (redness of the skin), eczema, rash, urticaria, skin irritation and blisters;
- corneal trauma (damage to the surface of the eye) and permanent eye damage, including permanent vision impairment (after accidental eye exposure during head, face and neck surgery) in patients under general anaesthesia (deep, induced sleep).

Adherence to the instructions in the package leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.
