NTR nasal drops, 15 ml bottle
NTR nasal spray, 15 ml bottle

What it is and what it is used for
NTR is a topical nasal decongestant medicine; it is used to clear blocked noses by local application.

NTR is used to relieve excessive discharge due to a cold.

What you need to know before taking the medicine
WHEN IT SHOULD NOT BE USED.
Hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or to any of the excipients.
Severe heart disease and arterial hypertension, glaucoma, hyperthyroidism. Do not use the product in children under 12 years of age.
Do not administer during and within two weeks of treatment with antidepressant drugs.
Do not administer during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

It is advisable to consult a doctor if these disorders have occurred in the past.

Warnings and precautions
It is recommended not to combine other vasoconstrictors such as nasal decongestants, orally or nasally, due to the risk of vasoconstriction (see section WHICH MEDICINES OR FOODS CAN CHANGE THE EFFECT OF THE MEDICINE).
Children are more sensitive to the systemic effects of sympathomimetic vasoconstrictors, so the product should be kept out of their reach as accidental ingestion can cause severe central nervous system depression with marked sedation (see section WHAT TO DO IF YOU HAVE TAKEN AN OVERDOSE OF MEDICINE).

Use with caution and at the doctor's discretion due to the danger of urinary retention, in the elderly and in those with prostatic hypertrophy.

In patients with cardiovascular diseases and especially in hypertensives, the use of nasal decongestants must in any case be subject to the doctor's judgment.
Prolonged use of vasoconstrictors can alter the normal function of the nasal and paranasal sinus mucosa and also induce drug tolerance: repeated applications for a long period of time can be harmful.
The use, especially if prolonged, of topical products can give rise to sensitisation phenomena and cause undesirable effects. In this case, immediately stop using the medicine and consult your doctor who, if necessary, will prescribe appropriate therapy.

Benzalkonium chloride (BAC) contained as an active ingredient in NTR, especially when used for long periods, can cause swelling of the nasal mucosa. If such a reaction is suspected (continuously congested nose), another nasal medicine without BAC should be used, if possible. If such a nasal medicine without BAC is not available, another pharmaceutical form should be considered.
It can cause bronchospasm.
The container of NTR drops is made of latex rubber. It can cause severe allergic reactions.

Possible side effects
Like all medicines, NTR can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.
The medicine can locally cause sensitisation phenomena and rebound congestion of the mucous membranes. Due to rapid absorption of phenylephrine through inflamed mucous membranes, systemic effects consisting of arterial hypertension, reflex bradycardia, headache, and urination disorders may occur.
Following the instructions in the leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.

Reporting of side effects
If you get any side effects, including those not listed in this leaflet, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. You can also report side effects directly via the national reporting system at: https://www.aifa.gov.it/content/segnalazionireazioni-avverse.
By reporting side effects you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine.
