Description
On Call Extra test strips are very thin strips equipped with a chemical reagent system.
They are used with the On Call Extra blood glucose meter to measure glucose concentration in whole blood. The blood sample should be applied to the tip of the test strip. The blood is then automatically absorbed into the reaction cell, where the reaction takes place. A transient electric current is formed during the reaction. The blood glucose concentration is then calculated based on the generated electric current detected by the blood glucose meter and the result is displayed on the screen. Blood glucose meters are calibrated to display plasma-equivalent results.
For in vitro diagnostic use only. The test strips are for external use only. On Call® Extra test strips are used at home by people with diabetes. They are also used by specialized healthcare professionals. They are used to measure the amount of glucose in fresh capillary whole blood. Capillary whole blood can be taken from a finger, forearm, or palm. The system is also used to monitor the results of diabetes management programs.

How to use
1. Open the cap of the test strip vial and remove one strip for testing.
Replace the cap immediately after removing a test strip. This protects the remaining strips in the vial from moisture and air.
2. Follow the instructions in the user manual to perform the blood glucose test.
3. The blood glucose test result will be displayed on the blood glucose meter. Make sure the result is within the ideal range defined by your doctor or specialized healthcare professional. If the results are higher or lower, contact your doctor or specialized healthcare professional. Always consult your doctor or specialized healthcare professional before making any changes to your treatment plan.
IMPORTANT: The On CallR Extra blood glucose monitoring system allows for alternative site testing. This includes testing from the forearm and palm, in addition to fingertip testing. It is important to know that there are significant differences between samples taken from the forearm, palm, and fingertip.
Important information for forearm and palm blood glucose testing:
- when blood levels change rapidly, for example, after a meal, an insulin dose, or physical activity, blood taken from the fingertip may show these changes more quickly than other areas;
- test from the fingertip if testing within 2 hours after a meal, insulin administration, or physical activity, and whenever a rapid change in glucose levels is noticed;
- fingertip testing should be performed if there is a risk of hypoglycemia or if unaware of hypoglycemia.

Time Range (mg/dl) Range (mmol/L)
Fasting and before meals 70-100 3.9-5.6
2 hours after meals Less than 140 Less than 7.8

Components
Glucose oxidase <25 IU, contact agent <300 mcg, buffer and non-reactive component. Each vial of test strips contains a desiccant.

Warnings
- For in vitro diagnostic use only. Test strips are for external use only. Use for testing purposes only.
- Do not use test strips after the expiry date printed on the vial. Expired test strips may give inaccurate blood glucose readings.
- Never use torn, bent, or damaged test strips.
- Test strips are for single use.
- Apply the sample only to the tip of the test strip. Do not apply blood or control solution to the top of the strip, as this may cause inaccurate readings.
- Discard the vial and any unused test strips 6 months after opening. Continuous exposure to air can cause the reactive substances in the test strip to degrade, leading to inaccurate readings.
- Keep the test strip vial out of the reach of children and animals.
- Consult your doctor or specialized healthcare professional before deciding on any changes to therapy as a result of blood glucose test results.
LIMITATIONS
- On CallR Extra test strips and other components have been designed, tested, and proven to work effectively with On CallR Extra blood glucose meters to provide accurate blood glucose measurements. Do not use components from other brands.
- Use the blood glucose meter only as recommended by the manufacturer. If the blood glucose meter is used in ways not intended, the system may not perform as expected.
- Test only fresh capillary whole blood with On CallR Extra test strips. Do not use with serum or plasma samples.
- The On CallR Extra blood glucose monitoring system is for professional use, but is also sold as an over-the-counter product. Both healthcare professionals and self-monitoring users can use the test strips for testing fresh capillary blood samples.
- Very high (over 55%) and very low (below 30%) hematocrit levels can cause inaccurate results. Consult your doctor or specialized healthcare professional to find out your hematocrit level.
- Very high levels of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) or other reducing substances produce falsely high blood glucose values.
- The system provides accurate blood glucose readings between 0.6 and 33.3 mmol/L (10-600 mg/dL).
- Fatty substances [triglycerides up to 166.7 mmol/L (3 000 mg/dL) or cholesterol up to 27.7 mmol/L (500 mg/dL)] do not substantially affect test results.
- On CallR Extra test strips have been tested and proven up to 10,000 ft. (3,048 meters).
- Severely ill individuals should not test their blood glucose with the On CallR Extra monitoring system.
- Blood samples from patients in shock, with severe dehydration, or in a hyperosmolar state (with or without ketosis) have not been tested. We do not recommend testing these samples with the On CallR Extra blood glucose monitoring system.
- Not indicated for neonatal testing.
- Not indicated for people undergoing oxygen therapy.
- Dispose of blood samples and various materials carefully. Treat all blood samples as if they were infected. Follow proper precautions and comply with all local regulations for the disposal of blood samples and materials.

Storage
- Store test strips in their protective vial. Store them with the cap tightly closed. This will ensure they work correctly.
- Store test strips in a cool, dry place at room temperature, 2-30 °C (36-86°F).
- Keep them away from heat sources and do not expose them to direct sunlight.
- Do not refrigerate or freeze.
- Use test strips at room temperature to ensure correct results.
- Do not store or use test strips in humid places, such as a bathroom.
- Do not store the blood glucose meter, test strips, or control solution near bleach or other liquids containing bleach.
- Do not transfer test strips to a new vial or any other container.
- Repeatedly inserting and removing a test strip from the blood glucose meter slot can cause reading errors.
- Replace the vial cap immediately after removing a test strip.
- Use the test strip immediately after removing it from the vial.
- Do not use test strips beyond the expiry date printed on the vial. Using test strips after the expiry date can produce inaccurate results.
The expiry date of an opened vial is 6 months after the first opening date. Write the exact expiry date on the vial label after opening the product.
Shelf life after opening: 6 months.
