POSIFORLID

Eye mask

Description
A medical device used for the at-home treatment of eye conditions caused by blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelid margin), Meibomian gland dysfunction (blockage or functional alteration of the Meibomian glands), stye, and chalazion.
The self-heating eye mask provides fast and lasting relief from discomfort caused by tear film instability, such as dryness, fatigue, burning, or excessive tearing.
After being activated by clicking the metal discs, the eye mask heats up to a suitable and constant temperature. The heat produced by the gel inside the mask heats the cotton pads, generating a warm and gentle steam that is evenly distributed around the eye contour.
The moist heat:
- unblocks the Meibomian gland ducts by gently softening hardened secretions and facilitating their expulsion through massaging movements on the eyelids. Clean and patent Meibomian gland ducts normally distribute lipids, making the tear film more stable.
- softens crusts on the eyelid margin, facilitating their removal and reducing the risk of eyelash loss. The heat improves blood circulation to the eyes, accelerating the healing process of styes and chalazions.

Instructions for use
Remove the pouch and discard it in the trash. If the pouch has been accidentally torn, first clean the mask thoroughly as per the instructions.
Wash your hands with soap and water before and after each use. Remove any contact lenses and eye makeup. Do not use makeup, creams, or lotions while wearing the mask. Apply any creams or medicated eye drops only after removing the mask.
The eye mask is ready for use when the orange contents are liquid. If the contents still have a solid, ice-like consistency, follow the instructions for boiling it to make it ready for use.
Using the eye mask with cotton pads ensures a moist and pleasant temperature. Use new, clean cotton pads for each treatment (not included).

Before each use, check that the mask does not have any damage or signs of leaks. Do not use the mask if it is damaged.
Ensure sufficient lighting and wear glasses if necessary.
The orange gel in the pouch must be liquid (soft and flexible). If the mask is hard like ice, follow the boiling instructions.
Moisten two cotton pads with tap water. Insert them so that the cotton pads are exactly in front of the oval windows. Close the snap fastener of the eye mask.
Do not use the eye mask without cotton pads as the high temperature could burn the skin.
To activate the mask, press the two metal discs inserted into the mask openings to make them click. With both hands, hold the single disc and bend it until it clicks. The liquid orange contents solidify and heat up. Massage the orange liquid to equalize the temperature throughout the mask, making it softer and more flexible. The temperature of the heating mask reaches approximately 45 °C. After about 5 minutes, the heat progressively reduces. Test the temperature on the inner side of your forearm to check if the heat on the skin is pleasant.
Apply the eye mask with the cotton pad side on your eyes and place the strap around your head. Adjust the strap to make it comfortable. Do not expose your eyes to excessive pressure. Allow the pleasant heat released by the mask to act on your eyes for 5-7 minutes.
Eyelid cleaning is an important step. Remove the cotton pads from the eye mask, then use them to massage and clean the ciliary margins as follows: massage the upper eyelid 5 to 10 times, moving from top to bottom over the entire eyelid. Then massage the lower eyelid 5 to 10 times, moving from bottom to top over the entire eyelid. Finally, clean the eyelid margins again with new, moistened cotton pads. Discard the cotton pads after use.

- In the presence of a chalazion: use the mask 4-5 times a day. Thanks to the heat, the secretion of the Meibomian glands becomes more fluid. Gentle massage around the area with a clean finger promotes the expulsion of sebum from the glands. Do not squeeze or pop a chalazion, but massage towards the eye to promote the slow expulsion of liquefied sebum in small quantities from the blocked sebaceous glands. The growth then tends to progressively recede.

- In the presence of a stye: use the mask 4-5 times a day to accelerate its maturation. It is not necessary to massage the stye. Do not try to squeeze or pop the stye, as this could spread the infection in the eyelid.
As soon as the boil breaks, the discomfort disappears. However, it can also happen that the swelling persists, without causing pain. Subsequently, it tends to stabilize and encapsulate, then evolve into a chalazion.

Boiling after use: remove the casing, the elastic head strap, and discard the cotton pads. Remove the gel pack from the mask and place it in a clean pot (about 2 liters). When the water boils, reduce the heat for 10 minutes until all crystals are completely dissolved and the contents of the orange gel pack return to a liquid state.
Use a slotted spoon or a large spoon to immerse the mask in the water and then remove it. Do not use a fork or knife as they could damage it. Remember to set a timer.
After boiling: place the mask on clean kitchen paper and let it cool for 30 minutes.

Cleaning the casing: avoid boiling the casing together with the gel pack or putting it in the dishwasher, as the material tends to harden. Remove the elastic head strap if it does not need washing. Use a clean cloth dampened with soapy water to clean the casing for 30 seconds.
To prevent allergic reactions, wash the casing thoroughly with warm tap water to remove any detergent residue. Air dry, but not so long that it gets dirty with dust or food.
After a few hours, dry all parts with clean kitchen paper and check that it is clean.

Components
The POSIFORLID eye mask is a gel mask containing two metal discs made of phthalate-free PVC and a solution based on sodium acetate, dye (both food-grade), and water.
It does not contain latex or silicones.

Warnings
Do not use the eye mask immediately after boiling, as it is still too hot and could cause burns. Wait at least half an hour, until the eye mask has cooled to room temperature.
Do not heat the eye mask in a microwave oven or directly on a hot plate. Direct contact with hot surfaces would damage the mask.
If you need to leave the kitchen area while boiling, always turn off the heat source to prevent the water from completely evaporating.
Do not allow children to be present without adult supervision during boiling.
Do not remove the mask from the water with bare hands. The mask is too hot and could cause burns.
If the heat of the mask is not comfortable for the skin, stop using it and wait a few minutes until the mask cools down, producing a pleasant sensation on the skin. Regularly check the skin under the mask; it should not turn red.
Use the mask with caution on children and the elderly to avoid causing skin burns.
Always supervise children while using the mask and regularly check under the mask to monitor skin reactions to heat.
You can cool the mask in the refrigerator, but avoid putting it in the freezer. This could damage the mask.
Do not use the POSIFORLID eye mask if you notice that it is no longer airtight or is damaged. If the gel contained in the mask accidentally comes into contact with the skin, rinse well with soap and water. After contact with eyes or mouth, wash for several minutes with running water. If irritation persists or if the gel comes into contact with a child's mouth, consult a doctor.
Although the ingredients of the mask are food-grade, the mask is not edible. It is intended exclusively for external use on undamaged skin.
Do not cut or open the mask. Do not sit or lean on the mask as this could cause breakage or leaks.
Do not use the mask if you have a known hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients.
For hygienic reasons, do not reuse cotton pads and do not share the mask with other people.
Do not boil the mask with food and prevent it from coming into contact with butter or oil, as this could cause the PVC to harden, making it less smooth or soft.
If you do not have time to boil the mask and clean it immediately after use, you can wait. In this case, clean the casing with a cloth to prevent residue or dirt from drying inside.
Boil the mask within 24 hours. If stored in a solid state for too long, the mask could overheat, and the size of the air bubbles could slightly increase.
In the presence of glaucoma, do not apply too much pressure on the eyes. Avoid over-tightening the elastic strap or putting the mask on your eyes without using the elastic fastening.
If you have undergone glaucoma or cataract surgery less than a month ago, gently massage the upper part of your eyelids. Before using the POSIFORLID eye mask, consult your ophthalmologist.
For external use on intact skin only. Do not use it on irritated, itchy, swollen, or red skin, on open wounds, or after surgery on an eyelid.
Moist heat can worsen certain forms of eczema or rosacea. If conditions worsen, consult a doctor.
If you suffer from dermatological conditions, always consult a doctor before using the mask.
The mask is for single-user use; do not share it with other users.
If your symptoms worsen after a few days, consult a doctor.
In case of unexpected side effects, consult your doctor and/or pharmacist and report them to the manufacturer or the competent local authority.
Keep the POSIFORLID eye mask out of the sight and reach of children.
If the released heat is insufficient, the mask must be replaced with a new mask. Although the mask normally tolerates 90 boiling cycles, it is the user's responsibility to check that the mask is still in good condition. Do not use the mask if in doubt. Boil the mask, let it cool to room temperature, and contact customer service for support.

Storage
Store the mask clean and in a liquid state (soft), at room temperature in clean kitchen paper in its original box or in a cabinet.
Each eye mask can be reused approximately 90 times.
