POTASSION effervescent granules
Potassium salts

What it is and what it is used for
POTASSION is a combination of salts that provide the body with the right amount of potassium to maintain the balance of salts and fluids in the blood (fluid and electrolyte rebalancing).

POTASSION is indicated for the treatment of:
- potassium deficiency in the body, including during acidosis (a condition in which there is an increase in acidic substances in the blood).

Consult your doctor if you do not feel better or feel worse after a few days.

What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not take POTASSION
- if you are allergic to potassium succinate, potassium malate, potassium citrate, potassium tartrate, potassium bicarbonate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
- if you have high levels of potassium in your blood (hyperkalemia) due to:
   • an increase in the levels of acidic substances in the blood (systemic acidosis including diabetic acidosis);
   • severe kidney problems (renal failure) or adrenal gland problems (adrenocortical insufficiency);
   • an intense and rapid loss of fluids in the body (states of intense and rapid dehydration);
   • severe burns;
   • disorders that can cause tissue damage and death such as hemolysis, crush syndrome or other conditions;
   • therapy with medicines used to facilitate urine elimination that reduce potassium loss (potassium-sparing diuretics).
- if you suffer from stomach and intestinal problems (gastrointestinal tract disorders).

Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking POTASSION.

During treatment with this medicine, your doctor should carefully monitor your health through specific tests (ionogram, blood pH measurement, ECG), especially if you suffer from chronic kidney problems (chronic kidney diseases).

To reduce the risk of side effects on the stomach and intestinal lining, take the medicine diluted in water and after meals (See the section How to take POTASSION).

If you suffer from renal insufficiency or in the presence of a concomitant and unsuspected source of potassium (food, potassium salts or other medicines), you may experience symptoms of an overdose (See the section If you take more POTASSION than you should). In this case, stop the treatment and inform your doctor immediately.
