Instructions for use
Before preparation, wash your hands and sterilize feeding equipment. Prepare only one meal and administer it immediately.
The dosages indicated are approximate and may be modified, according to medical recommendations, based on the weight and age of premature/low-weight infants.
The standard level of fortification is 1 g in 25 ml of breast milk. It is recommended to gradually increase the dose, starting from 2 g in 100 ml of breast milk. After evaluating tolerability within 24 hours, increase fortification (up to 4 g in 100 ml of breast milk) or follow the instructions established by the hospital.
Prepare one device (baby bottle, syringe or enteral feeding container) at a time and administer immediately.
If breast milk is frozen, thaw it gradually in the refrigerator (below 4°C). Do not use the microwave or leave it at room temperature to thaw.
Shake/swirl breast milk before pouring it into the device. Pour only the required amount of breast milk to be fortified into the chosen device. Before adding the fortifier, warm the breast milk to body temperature. Do not use the microwave.
Add the required amount of Nestlé PreNAN breast milk fortifier FM 85 to the desired amount of lukewarm breast milk (35-40°C), following the standard preparation (1 g in 25 ml of breast milk) or a specific reconstitution, if prescribed by the doctor. Close and gently shake until the powder is completely dissolved and administer immediately.
For enteral feeding: once fortified breast milk is prepared, use it within 4 hours.
Warnings
Breast milk is the ideal food even for premature or low-weight infants. Breastfeeding should last as long as possible.
Incorrect reconstitution can cause health risks for the infant.
For prevalent hospital use, use under medical supervision.
Supervise the infant during administration; do not leave them alone to avoid choking.
It is not a complete food.
It is not suitable for use in infants with confirmed cow's milk protein allergy, lactose intolerance, and congenital metabolic diseases such as galactosemia/glucose-galactose malabsorption.
Do not administer parenterally.
Never keep leftover fortified milk after each meal. Opened sachets must be used immediately or discarded.
Storage
Store in a dry place away from heat sources.
Validity with intact packaging: 18 months.
Format
72 sachets.
Net weight: 72 g.
