Zinc oxide Zeta 10% ointment

What it is and what it is used for
Soothing and protective treatment for eczema, dermatosis, and minor abrasions.

What you need to know before taking the medicine
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.

Warnings and precautions
The medicine should only be used externally; it can be harmful if swallowed (see Overdose).
Avoid contact of the medicine with the eyes; in case of accidental contact, wash thoroughly with water.
Do not use the medicine for burns or potentially infected wounds.
If the ointment is used for diaper rash, check that the rash improves within a few days; otherwise, contact your doctor as a different treatment may be necessary.
The use, especially prolonged use, of topical medicines can lead to irritation or sensitization phenomena. In such cases, it is necessary to discontinue treatment and consult your doctor to establish an appropriate therapy.
After a short period of treatment without appreciable results, consult your doctor.

Possible side effects
Like all medicines, zinc oxide Zeta can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The side effects of zinc oxide are listed below. There is insufficient data to establish the frequency of the individual effects listed.

Immune system disorders
Allergic/hypersensitivity reaction: rash, urticaria, itching and/or swelling (especially of the face, tongue, throat, lips), chest tightness, difficulty breathing.

Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders
Skin irritation.
Burning, tingling, and dark spots on the skin.

Adhering to the instructions in the package leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.
