What it is and what it is used for
Septolete cola flavour contains the active substances benzydamine hydrochloride and cetylpyridinium chloride.
Septolete cola flavour lozenges is an anti-inflammatory, analgesic (pain-relieving) and antiseptic (prevents the spread of pathogens) medicine for local oromucosal use. Septolete cola flavour disinfects the mouth and throat and reduces the signs of throat inflammation such as pain, redness, swelling, heat and impaired function.

Septolete cola flavour is used for short-term local anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antiseptic treatment of irritations of the throat, mouth and gums (including gingivitis and pharyngitis) in adults, adolescents and children over 6 years of age.

You should contact your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 3 days.

What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not take Septolete cola flavour:
- if you are allergic to benzydamine hydrochloride, cetylpyridinium chloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
- this medicine should not be used in children under 6 years of age.

Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Septolete cola flavour.
- if you are allergic to salicylates (e.g. acetylsalicylic acid and salicylic acid) or any other anti-inflammatory painkiller from the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
The use of this product is not recommended;
- if you have or have ever had bronchial asthma. In this case, caution should be exercised;
- if you have open wounds or ulcers in your mouth or throat (for example, after tooth extractions).

Do not use Septolete cola flavour for more than 7 days. If symptoms worsen or do not improve after 3 days, or if other symptoms appear, such as fever, consult your doctor.

The use of topical preparations, especially for a long period of time, can lead to sensitisation; in this case, treatment should be discontinued and a doctor consulted to initiate appropriate therapy.

Septolete cola flavour should not be used together with anionic compounds, such as those found in toothpaste, for example; therefore, it is recommended not to use the product immediately before or after brushing your teeth.

Children and adolescents
Septolete cola flavour should not be used in children under 6 years of age.

Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Rare (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people):
- skin rash (urticaria), increased skin reactivity to sunlight (photosensitivity);
- sudden and uncontrolled narrowing of the airways of the lungs (bronchospasm).

Very rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people):
- local irritation of the oral cavity, burning sensation in the oral cavity.

Not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data):
- allergic reaction (hypersensitivity);
- severe allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock), signs of which may include difficulty breathing, chest pain or tightness and/or feeling dizzy/fainting, severe skin itching or raised lumps on the skin, swelling of the face, lips, tongue and/or throat and which may be life-threatening;
- burning of the oral mucosa, loss of sensitivity of the oral mucosa (anaesthesia).

Normally these side effects are temporary. However, if they occur, it is recommended to talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
