What it is and what it is used for
Stitilax belongs to a group of medicines called laxatives. It softens the stool and causes the defecation reflex.
Stitilax is used for the treatment of occasional constipation.
This medicine is for adult use only.

What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use Stitilax:
• If you are allergic to the active ingredients (sorbitol, sodium citrate, sodium lauryl sulfoacetate) or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
• If you have abdominal pain of unknown cause.
• If you are taking cation-exchange resins such as calcium or sodium polystyrene sulfonate (orally and rectally), medicines for the treatment of hyperkalemia.

Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Stitilax.
You must inform your doctor if:
• You suffer from hemorrhoids.
• You suffer from an anal fissure (a lesion located in the anus that can cause persistent pain for several hours during defecation).
• You suffer from Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis (diseases characterized by inflammation of the rectum and large intestine that manifest with symptoms such as stomach pain, diarrhea with mucus or blood, and often fatigue).

Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The following side effects have been reported with unknown frequency:
• Abdominal pain
• Anorectal discomfort
• Liquid stools
• Hypersensitivity reactions (urticaria)
