What it is and what it is used for
Daflon is a medicine that contains a purified micronized flavonoid fraction, which protects veins and capillaries.
Daflon is indicated for the treatment of:
• venous insufficiency of the lower limbs (which may manifest as swelling, a feeling of heaviness, pain or cramps in the legs and feet) and hemorrhoids (veins in the anal region);
• capillary fragility (easy breakage of capillaries that become visible on the skin and can cause spots and bruises);
• acute hemorrhoidal crisis (sudden onset of bleeding due to ruptured hemorrhoids, pain and itching in the anal region).
Consult your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after one week of treatment.

What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not take Daflon
if you are allergic to the active ingredients or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);

Warnings and precautions
Children and adolescents
No data are available to support the use of this medicine in children and adolescents.

Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Side effects, which may occur with the frequency described below, include:
Common (occurring in 1 to 10 out of 100 patients):
diarrhea, indigestion (dyspepsia), nausea, vomiting.
Uncommon (occurring in 1 to 10 out of 1,000 patients):
colitis.
Rare (occurring in 1 to 10 out of 10,000 patients):
skin rash, itching, hives, dizziness, headache, malaise.
Not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data):
abdominal pain, swelling of the face, lips, eyelids (edema), rapid swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat which may lead to breathing difficulties (Quincke's edema), abnormal decrease in platelets (thrombocytopenia).
Following the instructions in the package leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.
