Diosmin

What it is and what it is used for
VENOSMINE contains the active ingredient diosmin, belonging to a group of medicines called bioflavonoids, and is indicated for the treatment of:
- venous insufficiency of the lower limbs (which may manifest as swelling, a feeling of heaviness, pain or cramps in the legs and feet)
- capillary fragility (easy rupture of capillaries which become visible on the skin and can cause spots and bruises).

Consult your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after a short period of treatment.

What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use VENOSMINE
- if you are allergic to diosmin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).

Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using VENOSMINE.

Do not apply the cream to irritated skin with liquid discharge (weeping eczema). The use, especially prolonged, of this medicine, like other medicines for topical use, may cause sensitisation. If this occurs, stop the treatment and consult your doctor, who will recommend appropriate therapy.

Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

The following side effects or adverse reactions have been reported and classified according to the following frequency:
very common (>1/10); common (>1/100, <1/10); uncommon (>1/1,000, <1/100); rare (>1/10,000, <1/1,000); very rare (<1/10,000), not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data).

Gastrointestinal disorders:
Rare: gastralgia, nausea, diarrhoea.
Nervous system disorders:
Rare: dizziness.

Side effects, listed below, have been observed for the active ingredient:
Nervous system disorders:
Rare: headache, malaise.
Gastrointestinal disorders:
Common: dyspepsia, vomiting.
Uncommon: colitis
Not known: abdominal pain
Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders:
Rare: rash, pruritus, urticaria.
Not known: face, lip, eyelid oedema; Quincke's oedema.
Blood and lymphatic system disorders:
Not known: thrombocytopenia
