Prontosan

Class III CE medical device, wound cleansing solution, with polyhexanide and betaine for cleaning and decontaminating wounds with biofilm. Penetrates biofilm and dissolves wound coating.
Ready-to-use solution with polyhexanide and betaine cleans and moistens acute and chronic wounds as well as 1st and 2nd degree burns. Dissolves fibrin coatings while protecting tissues, breaks down biofilms, prevents biofilm reformation, detaches dressing residues. Ideal for wound bed preparation, does not interfere with granulation and epithelialization, has high cell and tissue tolerability. Suitable for repeated and long-term use. Painless application.

Components
0.1% polyhexanide; 0.1% betaine; 99.8% purified water; glycerol, hydroxyethylcellulose.

Contraindications
- Known or suspected allergies.
- Do not use in the CNS and meninges region, middle and inner ear, and eyes.
- Use on hyaline cartilage and in aseptic joint surgeries.
- Do not mix with other soaps, ointments, oils, enzymes, etc. for wound cleansing.

How to use
Use for irrigation directly from the bottle, or for the wet-dry phase.
- Warm to body temperature (e.g., in a baby bottle warmer).
- For the wet-dry phase, apply the generously moistened gauze pad on and over the wound edges.
- Compatible with most commercially available wound dressings (exception: maggots).
- Also suitable for infected wounds.
- Recommended for use in V.A.C. Instill Therapy.
