VISCOFLU
nasal spray
Description
Medical device based on 3% hypertonic saline, with controlled pH, and 6% N-acetylcysteine. Indicated to facilitate the fluidification and mechanical removal of mucous and/or mucopurulent secretions stagnant in the nasal cavities (acute, subacute, and slowly resolving rhinitis, chronic and muco-crusted rhinitis, vasomotor rhinitis) and in the paranasal sinuses (acute and chronic sinusitis), improving symptoms and the course of acute, subacute and chronic inflammations of the upper respiratory tract.
Viscoflu nasal spray thins thick and viscous mucus through the physical/mechanical action of its components:
-Hypertonic sodium chloride solution (buffered): hypertonic saline solutions applied directly to the respiratory mucous membranes draw water by osmosis from the intracellular to the extracellular compartment. In this way, they increase the water percentage of the mucus lining the epithelium, fluidifying it and facilitating its removal.
N-acetylcysteine: acetylated variant of the amino acid cysteine, possesses mucolytic activity that it exerts through direct contact with mucus. This activity depends on the presence in the molecule of sulfhydryl radicals capable of breaking the disulfide bonds of mucoproteins that give viscosity to mucus, thus depolymerizing them.
Composition
N-acetylcysteine, sodium chloride; excipients: sodium hydroxide, edetate disodium, purified water.
Instructions for use
For proper use, remove the protective cap, tilt the head slightly backward, gently position the nozzle at the opening of the nostril, press the base of the dispenser with two fingers and spray 2-3 times consecutively.
Clean the dispenser and replace the protective cap. Shake well before use.
The recommended dose is 2-3 sprays per nostril two or three times a day, for no more than 10 consecutive days, depending on the clinical picture to be treated. Treatment can eventually be repeated several times during the year, but the product must be discontinued for at least one week between cycles. Use the product within 2 months of first opening.
Warnings
Viscoflu nasal spray, after spraying, has a sulfuric odor that does not, however, in any way interfere with the administration of the preparation. Wash the applicator after each application. It is recommended to close the cap carefully after use. Do not use in case of hypersensitivity or individual allergy to one or more components of the product. Prolonged use of topical products may give rise to sensitization phenomena; in the event that such phenomena occur, it is advisable to discontinue treatment and consult a doctor. Keep the product out of the reach and sight of children. Do not use the device beyond the expiry date. Do not ingest. Avoid spraying into the eyes. The use of the same bottle by multiple individuals can facilitate the transmission of infections.
The expired device or one to be disposed of must be managed according to the waste management regulations of the Local Waste Management Authority. Do not dispose of the product or its packaging in the environment under any circumstances.
Storage
Store at room temperature (not exceeding 25°C), away from light and heat sources. The expiry date refers to the intact product, stored correctly.
Shelf life of intact packaging: 24 months.
Format
30 ml bottle with dispenser and protective cap.
