What it is and what it is for
WATER FOR INJECTABLE PREPARATIONS S.A.L.F. contains sterile water, not contaminated by microorganisms (apyrogenic), which is used to dissolve, dilute, and convey other medicines to be administered by injection.
WATER FOR INJECTABLE PREPARATIONS S.A.L.F. is indicated for the preparation of solutions of medicines to be injected.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use WATER FOR INJECTABLE PREPARATIONS S.A.L.F.:
- in all those conditions for which you should not use the medicine(s) dissolved, diluted, or conveyed in WATER FOR INJECTABLE PREPARATIONS S.A.L.F..

Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse before using WATER FOR INJECTABLE PREPARATIONS S.A.L.F..
Use this medicine immediately after opening the container, after ensuring that the solution is clear, colourless, and free of visible particles, and use it all at once, discarding any remaining solution.
If you use WATER FOR INJECTABLE PREPARATIONS S.A.L.F. continuously, you may experience excessive water accumulation (water overload), congestion (congestive state), reduced blood salt levels, and, if you do not add potassium to the solution, decreased blood potassium levels (hypokalaemia) (See paragraph: 4. Possible side effects).
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The following side effects may occur:
- excessive bodily water accumulation (water overload);
- congestion (congestive state);
- reduced bodily salt (electrolyte) levels.
These effects may occur if you use WATER FOR INJECTABLE PREPARATIONS S.A.L.F. continuously.
