ACTASTIL
Description
A veterinary product for dogs, cats, non-food producing horses and pet rabbits, consisting of a sterile, isotonic saline solution, with N-acetylcarnosine and carboxymethylcellulose, indicated for protecting, hydrating and lubricating the ocular surface.
The addition of glycerin promotes the extraction of water from ocular tissues (hydrating action) with the consequent formation of a thin aqueous film on the corneal surface which, in the presence of carboxymethylcellulose, is incorporated into the cellulosic polymer network, forming a hydrogel with film-forming and viscoelastic properties with a protective action.
The specific concentration of carboxymethylcellulose (0.03%) gives the hydrogel rheological characteristics similar to those of tear fluid, and good adhesive capacity on the ear mucosa; the N-acetylcysteine content promotes the restoration of normal physiological conditions at the ocular level, counteracting the aggression of cellular lipid peroxidases.
Thanks to its peculiar qualitative-quantitative composition, ACTASTIL promotes normal epithelial trophism and protects ocular tissues (lens, cornea and conjunctiva) in situations of ocular discomfort such as: prolonged exposure to sunlight, wind, dust, smog and oxidative stress due to environmental factors.
ACTASTIL is an aqueous solution, perfectly transparent and miscible with tear fluid in all proportions: it has a pH and osmolality value perfectly compatible with ocular tissue and tear fluid, thus resulting in a high degree of tolerability.
Instructions for use
Instill 1-2 drops of the solution into the eye, applying slight pressure to the bottle. It is advisable to repeat the operation 2-3 times or more times a day. If used in combination with other eye drops, it is advisable to use them at different times to avoid mutual dilutions.
Components
Purified water, glycerin, N-acetylcarnosine, carboxymethylcellulose 0.3%, sodium chloride, sodium tetraborate decahydrate, disodium edetate, potassium bicarbonate, methyl P-hydroxybenzoate, propyl P-hydroxybenzoate.
Warnings
External use. For veterinary use only. The product is for ophthalmic use only. Do not touch the tip of the dropper with any surface to avoid contaminating the solution. Do not touch the eye with the tip of the dropper. Do not use in case of eye infections. Do not use simultaneously with other eye drops. Close the bottle tightly after use. Do not use the product after the expiry date indicated on the package. The expiry date indicated refers to the product in intact packaging and correctly stored. Keep out of reach and sight of children. Do not disperse the container in the environment after use. Do not use in case of subjective hypersensitivity or known incompatibility towards any component of the preparation.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature between 2 °C and 25 °C, away from heat sources and direct sunlight. After first opening, store the bottle in the refrigerator at 2 °C-8 °C. Do not use any residual product.
