What it is and what it is used for
ACTIGRIP COUGH MUCOLYTIC contains guaifenesin, a type of medicine called an expectorant. It helps relieve productive cough by dissolving phlegm (mucus), facilitating its expulsion and making the cough more productive.

This medicine is used in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over.

What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not take ACTIGRIP COUGH MUCOLYTIC:
• if you are allergic to guaifenesin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).

Warnings and precautions
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking ACTIGRIP COUGH MUCOLYTIC if:
• you have had a cough for more than 7 days, or if the cough recurs or is accompanied by fever, rash or persistent headache;
• you have a persistent cough that may be caused by asthma;
• you have a cough that produces a lot of mucus (phlegm);
• you suffer from severe liver or kidney problems;
• you are drinking alcohol.

Children:
The safety and efficacy of guaifenesin in children under 12 years of age has not yet been established.

Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

If you experience any of the following side effects, stop using this medicine and seek immediate medical attention:
• allergic reactions including skin rashes (which may be severe and include blistering and peeling of the skin) and itching;
• difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, neck, tongue or throat (anaphylactic reaction).

Other effects that may occur include (frequency not known):
• nausea or vomiting;
• stomach pain and diarrhea.
