CE medical device. Self-adhesive occluder used in orthoptic therapies for amblyopia and strabismus.
• Adhesive: hypoallergenic adhesive free of natural rubber latex and solvents, suitable for children's particularly delicate and sensitive skin. Removal is comfortable and avoids trauma even in cases of prolonged use.
• Non-woven fabric backing in white and skin-coloured. The shape of the occluder optimally adapts to the anatomy of the periocular area.
• Central pad made of a very thin trilaminated material with an internal photo-absorbing black screen that prevents light filtering from the outside.
• Shape: the patch's shape is elongated in the area of adhesion to the nasal bridge and allows for correct wearing of glasses simultaneously with the occluder. The glasses are well-aligned, preventing out-of-focus vision and discomfort for the patient. The elongated shape of the patch prevents lateral light filtering. This attribute of ORTOPAD prevents abnormal eye muscle movement that can lead to a worsening of the condition. Incisions in the area of adhesion to the nasal septum effectively prevent the formation of wrinkles on the patch, which could lead to premature detachment of the occluder and reduced comfort during orthoptic therapy.
