Food supplement useful for renal drainage and for modulating bladder irritability. It promotes a diuretic, anti-edematous, broad-spectrum detoxifying action.Crataegus oxyacantha
Hawthorn shows recognized sedative and muscle relaxant activity, making it particularly suitable for states of stress and anxiety. Oral administration has been shown to have calming effects on the CNS, making it particularly indicated for sleep disorders and in situations characterized by excessive emotionality and anxiety, stress, and menopause. It has also been ascertained that the plant helps eliminate the emotional component of certain hypertensive states. Studies show significant activity on the cardiovascular system with a real improvement in exercise resistance. The phytocomplex acts on b-adrenergic receptors (as a partial agonist) and by inhibiting phosphodiesterase, followed by an increase in the intracellular cyclic AMP level, which in turn is linked to an increase in free calcium ions; these effects are certainly linked to the presence of oligomeric procyanidins and flavonoids such as vitexin. The main actions on the cardiovascular system are: increased myocardial contraction force, antiarrhythmic effect, increased coronary flow, peripheral vasodilation.
Hieracium pilosella
The plant is used in the treatment of water retention and overweight, showing marked diuretic activity. This activity is associated with anti-uric and antiseptic action, promoting the repair processes of the bladder mucosa. The plant is also indicated in the treatment of recurrent cystitis thanks to umbelliferone, which has antibiotic activity. It also has a choleretic and cholagogue action that supports and promotes the antitoxic activity of the liver.
Equisetum arvense
It is mainly known for its remineralizing action, thanks to its high silica content. This mineral is believed to play a key role in facilitating bone calcification, especially in the early stages of their formation. It has also been observed that animals fed a diet particularly low in silicon show reduced callus formation after a fracture, and their bones show lower density compared to animals receiving normal amounts of silicon in their diet. Horsetail has a diuretic action: it has proven useful in edema, in forced diuresis in cases of bacterial and inflammatory affections of the urinary tract, and against kidney gravel. The diuresis caused by the drug is purely aqueous, without altering the electrolyte content. The plant is widely used in cosmetology for the prevention of wrinkles, skin aging, and cellulite. Given its remineralizing action, it is used for brittle nails and hair.
Smilax medica
Antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, and hepatoprotective properties have been documented. It is also used to treat enuresis and menopausal symptoms. It is used as a depurative for its diuretic and diaphoretic properties. The plant contains trace elements, minerals, sugars, saponins, and steroids. Most of its pharmacological activity comes from saponins and steroids, and they represent the starting source for the laboratory production of human steroids such as estrogens and testosterone.
Solidago virga-aurea
Solidago owes its important anti-inflammatory and vitamin P-like action to the presence of flavonoids and triterpenic saponins. The components of solidago flower tops have a remarkably significant diuretic and anti-uric effect; at the same time, the drug also exerts a notable anti-inflammatory and vasoprotective action. It is used in folk medicine to stimulate diuresis and promote the expulsion of stones. In phytotherapy, it is used to treat acute kidney affections and rheumatic disorders with an edematous component. Goldenrod inhibits the growth of candida albicans.
Spiraea ulmaria
The main constituents are: flavonoids (spireaoside) and monotropitoside, a salicylic heteroside, which by hydrolysis releases methyl salicylate. It shows an azoturic and dechlorinating diuretic action, antirheumatic, uricosuric, sudorific, and febrifugal. It is attributed a positive action against pathologies such as: profuse hyperhidrosis, muscular and joint rheumatism, epicondylitis. It has an important diuretic and anti-cellulite action. Numerous authors confirm its effectiveness in the treatment of lower limb edema, ascites, and joint effusions.
