Description
Medical device in powder for extemporaneous oral suspension useful in the treatment of chronic constipation.
Through an osmotic action, it naturally regulates the intestine. It is neither absorbed nor fermented in the intestines, does not irritate the mucosa and is eliminated in the feces in an unmodified form. It is particularly indicated for chronic constipation and in cases of occasionally irregular bowels. Thanks to its affinity for water, it softens the stool, facilitating evacuation without causing cramps or abdominal pain, or urgent conditions. Its effectiveness does not diminish over time.

Instructions for use
Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, it is advisable to use Stipsigol according to the following methods:
From 6 months to 2 years (up to 12 kg): 1 sachet per day.
From 2 to 11 years (from 12 kg to 20 kg): 1-2 sachets per day.
Adults and children over 11 years (or >20 kg): 1-3 sachets per day.
The dose can be increased or decreased depending on the individual response to the treatment. The most appropriate daily dosage should be decided based on weight and the severity of constipation. It is always advisable to consult a doctor. Use the product in pediatric age only after medical advice.
The maximum necessary dose normally does not exceed 30 g of product per day.
Dissolve one sachet (10 g) in about 1 glass of water (approx. 125 ml). The daily dose can be divided into multiple administrations.

Components
Each single-dose sachet contains 10 g of macrogol 3,350.
Excipients: silicon dioxide, flavor, sodium saccharin.

Warnings
Gastrointestinal disorders (abdominal pain, borborygmus, diarrhea or fecal leakage), as well as mild nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension, flatulence, perianal inflammation and irritation, may appear, especially at the beginning of use. These effects normally improve by reducing the dose. Allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, have been observed very rarely. Other symptoms of allergic reactions include itching, urticaria and dyspnea.
If side effects persist, discontinue treatment and consult your doctor.
Keep the device and any solution obtained out of the reach of children.
Do not use the device after the expiry date indicated on the package.
Do not use if the package is damaged.
Do not exceed the recommended doses: in case of overdose, intense pain and abdominal distension may occur. Induced diarrhea may also occur, with electrolytic disorders caused by excessive evacuation.
In case of suspected overdose, contact your doctor immediately. Do not use for more than 30 consecutive days; if symptoms persist, consult your doctor.
During treatment with Stipsigol, it is advisable to follow an adequate diet, accompanied by the administration of an oral rehydration solution (ORS) to avoid dehydration; however, it is always advisable to consult a doctor.
Do not use below 6 months of age.
The use of the device is not recommended in cases of: perforation or intestinal obstruction due to structural or functional disorders of the intestinal wall, ileus, severe inflammatory bowel diseases, such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and toxic megacolon. Known hypersensitivity to macrogol (polyethylene glycol). Do not use in case of known gastric or intestinal lesions. Each sachet is single-use and must only be opened at the time of use.
Do not take the medical device while using other oral devices or medicinal specialties: the osmotic power of macrogol and the increased gastrointestinal transit speed induced can negatively affect their effectiveness. In any case, consult your doctor before taking Stipsigol sachets if you are undergoing other therapies. During pregnancy or breastfeeding, take Stipsigol sachets only after consulting your doctor.
The product should be taken at least 2 hours apart from orally administered medications.

Storage
Store the unopened package in a dry place, away from direct light or heat sources. Store the device below 25°C.
