Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or to any of the excipients. Presence of acute abdominal pain or pain of unknown origin, nausea or vomiting, intestinal obstruction or stenosis, rectal bleeding of unknown origin, severe dehydration.
Warnings and precautions
The treatment of chronic or recurrent constipation always requires medical intervention for diagnosis, prescription of medicines and monitoring during therapy. Consult your doctor when the need for a laxative arises from a sudden change in previous bowel habits (characteristic frequency of bowel movements) that has lasted for more than 2 weeks, when constipation is persistent, and when the use of a laxative fails to produce effects.
Laxative abuse (frequent or prolonged use or with excessive doses) can cause persistent diarrhea with consequent loss of water, mineral salts (especially potassium) and other essential nutrients. In more severe cases, dehydration or hypokalemia (decreased potassium in the blood) may occur, which can lead to cardiac or neuromuscular dysfunctions, especially in case of concomitant treatment with cardiac glycosides, diuretics or corticosteroids. Laxative abuse, especially contact laxatives (stimulant laxatives), can cause dependence (and, therefore, the possible need to progressively increase the dosage), chronic constipation and loss of normal bowel functions (intestinal atony). First of all, it should be noted that, in most cases, a balanced diet rich in water and fiber (bran, vegetables and fruit) can permanently solve the problem of constipation. Many people think they suffer from constipation if they do not have a bowel movement every day. This is an incorrect belief since this situation is completely normal for a large number of individuals. Instead, consider that constipation occurs when bowel movements are reduced compared to personal habits and are associated with the passage of hard stools. If episodes of constipation occur repeatedly or if you have noticed any recent change in their characteristics, a doctor should be consulted.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, TISANA KELEMATA can cause side effects. Following the instructions in the package leaflet reduces the risk of side effects. Occasionally: isolated cramp-like pains or abdominal cramps, more frequent in cases of severe constipation. With the use of the product, the urine sometimes turns slightly yellow-brown or red. This coloration is simply due to the presence of senna components in the urine and is not clinically significant. Continuous use of laxatives can cause addiction or damage of various types. These side effects are generally transient. When they occur, however, it is advisable to consult your doctor or pharmacist. It is important to inform your doctor or pharmacist of the appearance of side effects not described in the package leaflet.
