Uncadep
Description
Sterile hypertonic saline solution for nebulization, based on N-acetylcysteine. N-acetylcysteine in hypertonic solution promotes decongestion of the airways, helping to thin mucus and facilitate its expectoration.
UNCADEP AEROSOL, nebulized into the respiratory tract, acts locally.
Indicated for the treatment of symptoms associated with catarrhal conditions of the respiratory tract: hypersecretion of mucus, cough, dyspnea. The medical device is intended to promote expectoration.
Instructions for use
Children from 2 years and adults: 1 single-dose vial per nebulization session, 1-2 times a day for 5-10 days. The solution can be nebulized with both piston (preferably) and ultrasonic aerosol therapy devices. Variations in daily dose and duration of treatment compared to what is indicated above must only be determined by a doctor based on the clinical picture and the patient's age (children from 2 years and adults).
Wash hands before and after using UNCADEP AEROSOL.
1. Bend the single-dose vial in both directions and detach it from the strip to which it is sealed.
2. Gently shake the single-dose vial before use.
3. Open the single-dose vial by twisting the flap.
4. Apply moderate pressure to the walls of the single-dose vial to release the solution and pour it into the ampoule of the aerosol therapy device.
5. Nebulize the solution using the aerosol therapy device, using a mask, nasal prongs, or mouthpiece as indicated by the doctor.
UNCADEP AEROSOL can be administered at any time of day without particular time restrictions. If symptoms persist after the end of treatment, consult a doctor.
Components
N-acetylcysteine (6%), hyaluronic acid sodium salt, disodium EDTA, monobasic sodium phosphate dihydrate, dibasic sodium phosphate dihydrate, sodium hydroxide, water.
Warnings
Keep out of reach and sight of children. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not use beyond the expiration date and if the packaging, when first opened, appears damaged or not perfectly intact. The contents of the vial should be used in a single solution. In case of partial use as prescribed by a doctor, the remaining solution cannot be reused. The safety of the product during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been demonstrated: in such circumstances, it is advisable to consult a doctor. The possible presence of a sulphurous odor does not indicate product alteration but is characteristic of N-acetylcysteine, a functional component of the formulation. Since N-acetylcysteine can chemically react with some materials (rubber, iron, copper), it is advisable to use glass or plastic accessories for aerosol therapy; in the presence of accessories with rubber or metal parts, wash with water immediately after use.
N-acetylcysteine can thin and therefore increase the volume of bronchial mucus, especially at the beginning of treatment: if this occurs and the mucus cannot be expectorated by coughing, consult a doctor.
N-acetylcysteine should be taken with caution and always under medical supervision if you suffer from bronchial asthma: immediately discontinue use of the product if bronchial muscle contractions (bronchospasm) occur. Caution and medical monitoring are also necessary if you suffer or have suffered from a gastrointestinal ulcer (peptic ulcer).
UNCADEP AEROSOL can be used during treatment with bronchodilator and vasoconstrictor drugs.
Before using the product in combination with other drugs or medical devices, consult a doctor. Consult a doctor if you are taking in particular:
- antibiotics, as in vitro tests have shown reduced activity of some antibiotics in the presence of N-acetylcysteine;
- anticholinergic drugs, as these can decrease the volume of bronchial secretions and therefore have an effect opposite to that of N-acetylcysteine;
- nitroglycerin, as the simultaneous use of this drug and N-acetylcysteine can cause a reduction in blood pressure (hypotension) and headache (cephalalgia), making blood pressure monitoring necessary.
UNCADEP AEROSOL, containing N-acetylcysteine, can interfere with some blood and urine tests, such as colorimetric salicylate assay and ketone test: inform your doctor before undergoing these tests.
Contraindicated in children under 2 years of age. Do not use in case of individual hypersensitivity to one or more components of the product. Do not use if you are taking antitussive drugs, as the use of the product in case of simultaneous reduction of the cough reflex can lead to an accumulation of mucus in the bronchi.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, away from heat sources and at temperatures below 25°C. The expiration date is indicated on the package, on the aluminum pouch, and on the individual single-dose vials and refers to the intact product, correctly stored. The single-dose vials must be kept inside the protective pouch, away from light and heat. To protect the environment, ask your pharmacist how to dispose of unused medical devices.
Validity of intact packaging: 36 months.
Format
20 single-dose vials of 5 ml.
