VISUSTRIN 1mg/ml eye drops, solution
tetrizoline hydrochloride
What it is and what it is used for
Consult your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse.
VISUSTRIN is an eye drop containing the active ingredient tetrizoline, which decongests the mucous membranes of the eyes, i.e., it reduces inflammation and swelling.
VISUSTRIN is used for redness, itching, burning, and swelling of the conjunctiva.
What you need to know before taking the medicine
Do not use VISUSTRIN
- if you are allergic to tetrizoline hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
- If you suffer from glaucoma or other serious eye diseases.
- In children under 3 years of age.
Warnings and precautions
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using VISUSTRIN.
If you do not get relief within 48 hours of starting treatment, discontinue use and consult your doctor.
Take this medicine carefully following the instructions in the leaflet or as directed by your doctor.
If symptoms persist after 48 hours of treatment, discontinue use and consult your doctor; in any case, this medicine should not be used for more than four consecutive days, as undesirable effects may occur.
Consult your doctor in case of infections, pus, foreign bodies in the eye, mechanical, chemical, and heat damage.
Although the medicine has low systemic absorption, it should be used with caution if you have high blood pressure, thyroid problems, heart disorders, and hyperglycemia (diabetes) and if you are being treated with antidepressant medications.
It may cause eye irritation.
For athletes: caution, this product contains substances prohibited for doping. Any intake different from the indications, dosage regimen, and route of administration reported in this information leaflet is prohibited.
Children
FOR ADULTS ONLY.
Safety and efficacy in children have not been established. Use in children over three years of age requires doctor's approval (see "Do not use VISUSTRIN").
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.
The following have been reported with the use of this medicine: pupil dilation, systemic absorption effects (high blood pressure, heart disorders, hyperglycemia or increased blood sugar levels), increased intraocular pressure, nausea, headache.
Following the instructions in the leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.
These side effects are generally temporary. However, if they occur, it is advisable to consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Additional side effects in children
Keep out of reach of children as accidental ingestion can cause marked sedation.
